  7. Resolved Question: How to get the maps that's provide by National Geographic ...
  8. 30 May 2008 at 6:59pm
Where can I buy those maps separately from the magazines, I'm talking about those which has really nice artworks on it. Such as the May 2008 issue, there was a really nice picture of the Forbidden City artwork at the back of the Map of China that the Magazine provided. I saw my history teacher have it and pested at the back of the classroom, it was a bird's eye view Egyptian City map and its released on April 2001, and another about the Greek City which was released on February 1999, these two are all released by the National Geographic Society.

  9. Resolved Question: can anyone explain this map? starts in China?
  10. 30 May 2008 at 9:44am
Can you give me the meaning of the symbols and the pictures? like the city names. I read that the wild goose pagoda in the mid-center was supposed to be Chang an, or XiAn. http://images.search.yahoo.com/images/view?back=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.search.yahoo.com% 2Fsearch%2Fimages%3Fp%3Dsilk%2Broad%26ni%3D18%26ei%3DUTF-8%26fr%3Dyfp-t-501%26xargs%3 D0%26pstart%3D1%26b%3D37&w=500&h=395&imgurl=static.flickr.com%2F84%2F214843245_824ad0 5319.jpg&rurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.flickr.com%2Fphotos%2Famortize%2F214843245%2F&size=243 .4kB&name=The%20Silk%20Road&p=silk%20road&type=JPG&oid=2f9c10a5e6688e70&fusr=amortize &tit=The%20Silk%20Road&hurl=http://www.flickr.com/photos/amortize/&no=51&tt=137891

  11. Resolved Question: Advertising, marketing, PR: Need help with SWOT analysis?
  12. 30 May 2008 at 4:59am
The New York Public Library (NYPL) is one of the leading public libraries of the world and is one of America's most significant research libraries. In 1995 it was 100 years since it was founded and they conducted a survey among the locals, which showed the following results: The NYPL contains more than a million items (books, videotapes, maps, etc.). It is a privately managed, nonprofit corporation with a public mission, operating with both private and public financing. It annually hosts more than 500 free events and exhibitions. However, the New York citizens don?t know anything about it. They were badly in need of advertizing but because of numerous financial difficulties they couldn?t afford it. Now, how a SWOT analysis for this situation from your point of view would look like?

  13. Resolved Question: Name of these two games?
  14. 29 May 2008 at 9:24am
First game is a top-down shooter from the late 90's. Not a blockbuster game, i found it on download.com. Top-down view and you are the only person on the square map, everything else is monsters that automatically come to you. You can find health and guns laying around. Second game is also from mid to late 90's, squad based RTS...no building of units just placing of units on map and then you fought...not sure what time period they had cannons and magic though. I know vague descriptions...just hoping to get lucky and someone will remember.

  15. Resolved Question: How do I activate my IEEE 1394 firewire port?
  16. 29 May 2008 at 9:00am
BTW someone told me this yesterday: ? ?Is the Firewire port active? What operating system are you on? Right click "My Computer" Select "Properties"\ Click "Hardware" tab Click "Device Manager" Is IEEE1394 listed? Is it active and supposedly working properly? Is the camcorder plugged into power, too (not just the battery)? Is the outlet working (or power strip on)? o 10 hours ago Click "Device Manager" But I have a new version Dell laptop that doesn't have this stuff, so I went: Computer System Properties (the 3rd of the 5 listed across the top coz there's Organize, Views, SYSTEM PROPERTIES, Uninstall Program, Map Network Drive) ...and then in clicking System Properties I get to this page entitled "View Basic Information About Your Computer) It seems I don't have "My Computer" or any of the uva list, I assume bcoz I hav newest version Dell laptop. So (just to let u know) I dont hav oldies like "My Computer". I'd just like to kno how 2 activate the port :) ok i've moved it to my desktop...

  17. Voting Question: Viewing Workgroup Computers on Vista?
  18. 28 May 2008 at 4:48pm
OK I'm trying to get my sister's laptop hooked up to our network printer. She is connected to the internet via the network on the laptop but it does not find the printer. I have changed the workgroup name on her computer to the workgroup we use on the desktop computer. It also said that she was now a member of the workgroup. I remember with my other desktop computer I had to go through the Workgroup map and find the printer that way. I don't know how to do this using Vista. Can someone help me? And please don't tell me that I have to enable printer sharing because I know that and that is not what I'm asking you to tell me. I just want to resolve this issue. Thank you.

  20. 28 May 2008 at 2:05pm
Is there anyway to zoom out the view in the mini-map/radar in the bottom left of the screen and keep it zoomed out? I find that when i'm driving the view is zoomed in too far to nagigate properly. Holding down on the D-pad zooms out but it zooms back in when you let go. Is there anyway to keep it zoomed out (on the Xbox version preferably) Thanks in advance!

  25. Resolved Question: Is there a site where I can view alcohol taxes by state?
  26. 26 May 2008 at 3:00am
For example, I know that the tax on alcohol is much, much higher in Georgia than it is in South Carolina, but I don't know how much higher. I just know I can buy a six-pack of buy for around $3.99 in South Carolina, but in Georgia it's about $6.00+. I was wondering if there was anywhere I could view alcohol taxes by state. Either a list or on a map. Thanks! Okay Thanks Woody! I really hope you check back on this question since you don't have email. I read the link you gave me, but am now more confused. It appears the sales tax in GA (4%) is lower than in SC (6%). And that the beer tax in GA is $0.48 (per gallon), while it is $0.77 (per gal.) in SC. So it would seem that beer would be cheaper in Georgia, yet it is far cheaper in South Carolina, so much so that those of us who live right on the line (like myself, when I am home visiting my parents) drive across the lake to buy beer. The prices in SC are dramatically cheaper as I said in my original question (around $3 for a 6pk. in SC versus $6 for the same 6pk. here in GA). I have always been told it had to do with the taxes. But I just read on that link that the beer taxes are actually LOWER in Georgia. Can anyone explain this to me please???

  33. Resolved Question: Am I a bad Christian.............?
  34. 24 May 2008 at 12:55am
If I feel a strong personal conviction that there's the possibility that man had possibly had his hands too much in choosing the books of the Bible? In other words, I do not doubt Jesus' divinity, nor his actions while on earth, I do not the writings, I just doubt the choosing process of which books made it into the Bible. I just wonder why I should follow word-for-word the teachings, when we all know how some accounts could be misinterpreted or viewed differently than how they happened. I do not question the actions or words, I question the ones who chose the books. On the what-if side, what if we're missing a very important book? Humans have edited this book before, what if there's one we need to have in there? Why aren't the Dead Sea Scrolls included? The Bible shouldn't be an end-all book, it should be a collection of teachings and blessings, even a precise road-map to living the way God intended. Am I wrong for questioning this? Especially since I don't want to.

  39. Voting Question: Would you call South Carolina's former treasurer Thomas Rave...
  40. 22 May 2008 at 11:07am
Thomas Ravenel T-Rav the Low Country Cocaine Cowboy By Mr. Chip's, published May 21, 2008 Published Content: 41 Total Views: 769 Favorited By: 1 CPs Contact Subscribe Add to Favorites Rating: 3.0 of 5Currently 3.00/512345 Font Font We all know the story of how a relatively squeaky clean, southern boy, Thomas Ravenel, now former treasurer, Republican, son of controversial Congressman Arthur Ravenel was indicted in June 2007 on federal cocaine charges with a current investigation in progress even as I write this. What you may not know is that I actually had the chance to talk to him by way of one of our local radio talk shows,The Rocky D Show a daily noon program. What did I ask him? "Why won't you or can't you reveal the others in your cocaine involvement?" Prior to being able to speak to him, I like many callers had the opportunity to hear others speak to him and had a chance to hear more of what he had to say about his drug involvement. He was complaining about how people don't like his name Ravenel and it makes him a target for criticism. Of course Rocky D was in very much agreeing with him. He even went as far as to say that people don't like Thomas Ravenel because in a "nut-shell" he's like his dad a good old Southerner with all its trappings. And me not from the South but now I feel I am fairly educated and informed by the so-called all things Confederate have no love lost for Mr. Thomas Ravenel. But before I move ahead let me go back to the question I asked him on the phone on Rocky D's show. Why hasn't he revealed the other "players" in his cocaine involvement? He claims it's because of a on-going investigation. Of course he has been sentenced to 10 months in prison. A light term if you ask me. Even if this was his first drug offense. The guy is a fake. He's an arrogant fake. His family was questioned numerous times about Mr. Ravenels cocaine and drug involvement. And basically they were not forthcoming. They lied and covered up for him. But of course. His dad former Congressman Arthur Ravenel owns a Confederate souvenir shop in Charleston South Carolina. A former Democrat and member of the Moultrie Camp, Sons of Confederate Veterans and was "Pro" Confederate flag against its removal from the statehouse on July 1st 2000. Also Ravenel after he switched from the Democratic party to the Republican party in the early 1960's went on to lose 5 straight elections in his state. On top of that his mouth being the good old boy that he is lands him continually in "hot-water" with the NAACP, civil rights groups and even the organization for persons with Disabilities and Special Needs. He once, I am not sure if it was intentional or just because he's an old guy. Referred to the NAACP as the National Association for Retarded People. This could have been an accident we all know too well how the late Senator Strom Thurmond bumbled his speech and put South Carolina on the map many times in ridicule as he moved to centenary age. So maybe it was a mistake. But then with Confederate types and with Confederate stuff that happens in this state and in the South. The former politician may have been trying to get back at the NAACP which initially forced SC and the nation to consider seriously thinking about finally removing the Confederate flag off the statehouse dome. In fact if you recall even our sitting United States President, Bill Clinton and his Vice President Albert Gore asked the state legislature to have it removed. Because it did more harm then good in the state. Of course the NAACP launched a economic boycott which will stay in place until it is finally removed from the grounds near the Confederate soldiers memorial and put in a museum. With all that being said. It was a damnatory revelation when his son, 45 year old, businessman,Citadel graduate with an MBA and the SC Treasurer made news when he was indicted on federal cocaine charges. He was served while he was out dining with friends. The charges allege that he was involved with cocaine through an intermediary in Charleston and his name is public record and recently another intermediary was publicly revealed but he is on the lam according to reports he may be in his home country of Italy, leaving Ravenel and the other intermediary to take the heat and the prison time. Which brings me back to the question I asked him on the Rocky D show: Why doesn't he reveal the other people. Though many have been redacted off his official transcript to the feds he still knows who they are and I am sure he has biographical information on them. In fact me knowing how this place can be. I'll give you a couple of examples. We have a Lieutenant Governor who is a licensed Constable but who numerous times was charged with reckless driving even beyond what I (the writer) was charged with. What happened to him? Well he made SC and the people in it look like a bunch of dumb and ignorant hillbillies. Because our Justice Department and our law enforcement (Highway Patrol and other law enforcement) were not doing their job. And that basically our Lieutenant Governor was just a youngster that really had more time then sense. Secondly refer back to Thomas Ravenel. We have a current Judge Jean Toal who serves on the bench issuing out judgments but who numerous times has been involved in hit and run accidents. And this stupid and moronic southerner leaves the scene of the crimes and has the nerve to explain that she was not aware or did not see anything wrong with her actions. And I could go on and on perhaps in my next opinion installment on associated content. But to get back to why I don't believe that T-Rav ( a current moniker from the college and younger crowd) is going to "dime" out his fellow players in his cocaine involvemet. Number one I know he's scared. He even told me on the Rocky D show he doesn't know if it would take time off his sentence to reveal them and I don't think he cared. Number two in the back of mind according to a news article that was done on him in THE State paper (A news source in Columbia SC) some of the other people at the so-called cocaine parties may be prominent individuals or connected to prominent people in all types of white collar circles of socio-economic-political and business and so on. Only time will reveal. In the meanwhile we all await Thomas Ravenel's fate and I sure his dad does too. Thomas Ravenel

When I bring up a map of the Norwegian Jade all the cabins have some sort of symbol in them, triangles etc. I know, in general, the symbols mean quad room, obstructed view etc. But with Norwegian Cruise Lines what do the symbols mean? I have found no help on the various travel sites nor from the cruise ship site itself.

  44. 20 May 2008 at 12:18am
I honestly do not have one, I am just way too picky. Do not say democrat OR republican! Democrat=Communism Republican= well, Reagan, and Bush turned me away from that. Here are my views: pro-choice, mixed feeling about taxes, i do not care who marries who, soft-drugs should be at least regulated, go to war only if we are attacked or in danger, PETA are terrorists and so are anti-abortionists, against illegal immigration, the government should not tell what i can or cannot eat, indifferent towards the patriot act, mixed views on welfare, pro-maps (lol I had to put that there), do not get involved in other countries problems i.e. elections and risk soldiers lives, i support the troops but NOT the war, ok there is more.

  45. Resolved Question: Which area (numbers) are the best to live in Charlotte, NC?
  46. 19 May 2008 at 2:18pm
My husband and I are looking to relocate to Charlotte, NC. I'm looking at the Charlotte area maps plus realtor.com but I'm a bit confused. On realtor.com most house locations are described in area numbers and subdivisions. Would anyone be willing to view these area numbers and the streets associated within to tell me what is the best place to look? The site is: http://www.realestate-charlotte.com/Property_Tax_Rates/page_208967.html I just want to know if a house listing says (for example) "Area 2" if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Please let me know which area numbers to avoid. Thanks so much in advance!

  54. 17 May 2008 at 10:17pm
There are 2 lights with little buttons on the rear-view mirror that won't turn on. I'm pretty sure I've pulled each fuse but if it's a common problem let me know which fuse and I'll check it again. If it's burnt bulbs (I thought this was unlikely since they're BOTH out) how do you get them suckers outta the sockets? They're so little and I don't want to break them with a needlenose. Otherwise, I'm out of ideas...

  73. Resolved Question: Help me identify a game?
  74. 13 May 2008 at 8:42am
I can only provide description of it: 1. I played it in the era of windows 95 but the game could be released before that. 2. Objective of the game is to capture the flag from the opposing force. 3. You play as a single military vehical and have to battle your way through the enemiy's fortified base structures to reach the flag and then bring back to your base station. 4. There are 4 (i think) types of vehicle ie jeep, tank, helicopter, (i forgot the last). These vehicles are located in an underground station where you can return with your current vehical and pick another vehical. 5. There are walls, trees, turrets, guns etc to blow and shoot at. 6. If your helicopter go too far off the map over the seas, a submarine NPC will appear and launch a homing missle at you. 7. all missles, bullets and guns and be dodged. 8. you can play 1 or 2 player vs mode. 9. In two player mode, you play on the same computer with the screen divided left and right sides. 10. Top down view It was on PC... like i said, I played it on windows 95. It's a simple yet exciting game especially when played against friend on the same computer. the jeep is the fastest vehical, you can do hit and run really fast! controlling and moving it around bends is a great challenge. the tank allows you to control the turrent and hull separately and concurrently making it a very cool fighting machine where you can outwit your opponent with superior control skills. the tank can also drop mines which will blast anything coming over it! the helicopter is the most fun when it comes to doging missiles. you can fly it over and into the enemy base and see all the missles coming towards you. The you can try your doging skills. one of the fun thing is that you can dodge the homing missles and let it hit your opponent instead!

  79. Resolved Question: In Kansas City MO, would it be safe to walk from 11th & Tr...
  80. 12 May 2008 at 1:07am
To save on gas costs and to avoid paying nearly $100 just for a shuttle ride to the airport from Topeka, I've decided to take Greyhound to Kansas City, MO followed by taking the Metro to KCI Airport. Greyhound is on 11th & Troost, which I've heard Troost is not the greatest of areas. Would it be safe if I were to make the 12+ min. walk from 11th & Troost over to the Transit Centre on 10th & Main, or just play it safe and take the 2 min. ride to that area? It'd be a July evening at about 8:15p when I do this, and this would be my first time in KCMO, although I've seen some street view photos of my route on Google maps. Three resounding "Don't Walk" answers.. That's a clincher to me, then.. Granted, I've walked around San Francisco at rather shifty hours a couple times, but that's San Francisco.. Thanks all for the input, looks like I'll be calling for the taxi before I even get off the Greyhound bus!

I am new to Halifax and live in Fairviews area, and I kept hearing ship horns, and I wanted to go see some ships going in and out of port. BUT, I don't know where to go. I just want to sip some Tim Horton's hot-chocolate and sit with the wife in the car and enjoy the view as ships pull in and out of port. Where can I go to see this? (it'd be great if you told me the exact address or pin-pointed it on Google Maps for me!) THANKS

  85. Resolved Question: Can I force a Dell E207WFP widescreen monitor to use 1:1 p...
  86. 10 May 2008 at 2:38am
It's entirely possible that I'm asking the wrong question, so let me elaborate. I have the aforementioned widescreen monitor and I'd like it to not just scale without stretching, but to actually use proportionally less pixel space on lower resolutions. Here's what happens. Without any scaling, any resolution higher than 1280x1024 is basically rendered as a fraction of the native 1680x1050 resolution (1400x1050 has doesn't stretch horizontally). However, when I go down to 1280 and below, it stretches horizontally, but not vertically. Now I don't want any stretching or resizing, vertical or horizontal. I'd like blank space to fill the difference and use a smaller viewing space. Specs: WinXP Dell E207WFP monitor ATI Radeon HD2600 AGP and the most recent Radeon Omega drivers (based on Catalyst) I don't mind complexity, but I am pretty ignorant of what needs to be done. Standard timings supported 640 x 480 at 60Hz - IBM VGA 640 x 480 at 75Hz - VESA 720 x 400 at 70Hz - IBM VGA 800 x 600 at 60Hz - VESA 800 x 600 at 75Hz - VESA 1024 x 768 at 60Hz - VESA 1024 x 768 at 75Hz - VESA 1152 x 864 at 75Hz - VESA 1280 x 1024 at 60Hz - VESA 1280 x 1024 at 75Hz - VESA 1680 x 1050 at 60Hz - Dell To first response: Catalyst Control Center was of no use, the settings were not displayed when I installed the latest version of it, and I have since removed it in favor of ATI Tray Tools. Ideally, I'm looking for an independent software solution.

  87. Voting Question: Unreal Tournament 3 (PS3) Mods/Mutators/Maps?
  88. 9 May 2008 at 7:55pm
I have the PlayStation 3 version of Unreal Tournament 3. I want access to things like user created maps, mutators (like making yourself look like the Master Chef from Halo), and other stuff. With just the PS3 version, is there a way for me to get my hands on any of these things? If so, can you tell me how, and from what website? Thanks. Also, is it possible for me to play Unreal from third-person view? Thanks again to whoever answers.

  98. 6 May 2008 at 9:20pm
Go to Google Maps and look at a street view of an address. You can see the house. This is a photo taken for pay, published on a website that generates revenue. It is not editorial content. How can the do this without the property owner's permission? Any legal recourse? Two more things - my car was in the driveway. Wouldn't that require a release too? Also people appear in some shots so personal releases should be required. Whitefang - I disagree. The key tenent you are citing is when the picture is taken from public property. This is to protect the photo taker from images of property ancillary to the purpose of the photo. Paparazi are coverd by editorial rules. I do not need a release to publish your photo in a news publication. Google is taking a picture of my house with the express intent to publish it on their for profit website. It's not about privacy. It is about rights to publish for profit photos of my wholly owned property: the prime intent of the photo. I think there needs to be a test case. Thanks Rick - but I'll have to argue with you on this, unless you can give me a CA statute that expressly allows it. i know there is not one that prohibits it. I'm a published photographer, and many non-editorial publications will ask for property releases. They are pretty common because the legal grey area that this is. Ref - Supports my position - http://www.asmp.org/commerce/legal/releases/AboutPropertyRel.php Doesn't support - http://www.pdn-pix.com/pdn/features/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003605722
